Venus and Serena Williams teamed up for their 4th Australian title in 2010, their 2nd consecutive Aussie title, and their 11th major doubles title in Melbourne.
Today the Williams sisters played their first doubles match since Australia at the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open, defeating Alicja Rosolska and Yaroslava Shvedova 7-6 (4), 6-2 in 1:19:16, one day after Serena Williams battled Vera Dushevina for 3:27, and came out on top in her longest professional match.
The Williams sisters have now begun their pursuit of the French Open doubles title which has eluded them since 1999 and which they have only won once in their career.

I don’t know why I am paying for the Tennis Channel on T.V. They showed all the men plays during the week, but not the women plays. They have not shown one double match. I am not interested in their old matches or teaching people how to play tennis. Give me my money’s worth or change tennis to another TV channel.
Thank you
Frances

Ms. McNealy,
I understand your point about the tennis channel. They have shown increasing flexibility of late, to their credit, getting Federer’s matches from Estoril covered, and other instances where they got to something important on the fly. Unfortunately, doubles is far down their list of priorities. That said, the Bryan Brothers are in the Madrid final, and it will be aired live at 7:30 AM EST, Sunday. As do you, I have a great sense of the importance of doubles in the game. Federer played doubles in Rome and I was upset it wasn’t covered. I mean, how often does he play doubles? It’s history in the making, really. S & V are obviously way more important as a doubles entity than Roger, and their record together at the majors, when considering the fact that they took several yrs off from doubles, is truly incredible. The Tennis Channel will, however, sometimes flip flop, when the men and women are both in action. This week they’ve shown all the men’s, but only the women’s semis and final (Venus, tomorrow @ 9:30 AM EST). Sometimes, they show all the women’s rounds and just the men’s semis and final. I would urge you to stick with TTC. They have the mix channel for the slams that cover 6-7 different courts, and I’ve seen many of the Williams’ doubles matches at the majors due to the mix channel, which is the best feature in all of tennis on television.
As to your dress and style, and your points about the girls and the example they must set, I agree, but I don’t think they see it that way. In collecting photos of them, I have many, many fashion faux pas. I am going to post those pics, just for you. And I am sure you make a pretty picture, no doubt about it. Glad to have you check out our page. If I hear of a late inclusion of the women’s final to the TV schedule, I will post it immediately. Thanks again.
Best,
Crack

Please tell Serena and Venus Williams that I think the world of them, but they have to look better in their appearance. I am a former model, former modeling school and modeling agency owner and former educator.
I am 73 years of age. When I go out, everyone tells me that I look like a million dollars. A sorority recently awarded me the “Best dressed” at a bruncheon.
Serena and Venus are representing Black women all over the world. Their appearance counts a lot. They can afford more than I can. They should start with their hair-do. They need a perm or should get a weave. Those wigs with all those hair pins will have to go!!! If I had their Email, I would not send this to you, because I consider it “personal.”
Please pass my Email along to them or send their Email to me. I hope they will take this as a positive criticism and not as a negative criticism.
